Art Space_ Neo Ippei
Where Time and Space Meet Different Dimensions
opening party
Please be our party.
Neo Ippei is a cultural hub that will function as a gallery and artist residency, hosting exhibitions, workshops, and public programs serving both the local Hachinohe community and global artists. Created by Studio Mikix, Neo Ippei is a place that enriches digital artists and encourages reflection and reciprocity through their art. The goal is to nurture a strong art community in the outskirts of Japan and gather like-minded people to propagate seeds of culture globally. We are seeking founding patrons whose support will play a vital role in growing Studio Mikix’ mission. Together, we can create a lasting legacy that celebrates creativity and fosters cultural endeavors.

Project Overview
Location
Neo Ippei is located at center of Hachinohe City. Hachinohe is a city on the northeast coast of Japan’s Honshu island. Hachinohe promises expansive coastlines. Kabushima Island is a breeding area for black-tailed gulls and has a red shrine. A trail runs along the Tanesashi Coast to Osuka Beach, past the curved bay of Shirahama Beach. Famous for fresh seafood at the morning markets or a unique nightlife at the Yokocho alley. The people of Hachinohe are always friendly and welcoming to visitors.
2025- STUDIO MIKIX
Studio x Residence x Art Gallery
As a part of the revitalization effort in Hachinohe, Studio Mikix is converting Aomori’s Teishaku Restaurant into an eclectic art space. The building, originally constructed in 1943, has remained in Mikiko’s family since then, undergoing various transformations over the years—from being her grandmother’s fashion boutique in 1943 to an unagi restaurant in the 1960s, and later an Ippei Japanese Teishoku restaurant until 2019. Utilizing both local and salvaged materials, the space is being repurposed to once again serve the community, both locally and globally, while retaining elements of its rich history within the design.
